The county coroner's office completed its autopsy on the body of actress Brittany Murphy on Monday but came to conclusions and deferred its decision on the cause of her death until a battery of tests, including "toxicological tests and tissue studies" come back, according to a coroner's statement.

The office did, however, find that there was "no evidence of trauma to the body." Los Angeles police, meanwhile, bowed out of the investigation, finding no foul play. The case of Brittany Murphy-Monjack (number 2009-08735) is solely in the hands of the coroner's office. The final results could take four to six weeks, the office stated.

Murphy was declared dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at 10:04 a.m. Sunday after she was rushed to the hospital from her home in the 1800 block of Rising Glen Road in hills above the Sunset Strip. Paramedics were called to the location at 8 a.m. TMZ reports Murphy had experienced flu-like symptoms and had been vomiting before her demise. The organization also reported that many prescription drugs were found at the home.

As we noted, it was a bad month for the actress who first broke out in the teen flick Clueless and who went on to star in 8 Mile, Girl Interrupted and Don't Say A Word. She was reportedly fired from a movie, The Caller, being filmed in Puerto Rico. Her agent might have let her go. And her husband, Simon Monjack, had to be taken by paramedics to a hospital following his return to LAX from Puerto Rico earlier in the month (although it's not entirely clear why). And she was the subject of a spoof on Saturday Night Live.
