The Levi-sponsored Wild Goodness — a microfestival of food films and themed events at Cinefamily — continues tonight with Italianamerican, Martin Scorsese's 1974 documentary set in his mother's kitchen. The film will be introduced by neighborhood culinary gods Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo of Animal and Son of a Gun, and a reception will follow on the Silent Movie Theatre's patio.

Position Among The Stars — Leonard Retel Helmric's award-winning, trilogy-closing, magical-realist vérité portrait of a working-class family living on the cusp between third-world poverty and contemporary globalization in Indonesia — begins an Oscar-qualifying run at the Fallbrook in Woodland Hills tonight. As of this writing the film's U.S. distribution future is uncertain, and it's a must see.

Tonight Cinefamily previews doc master Errol Morris' latest, Tabloid, which tells the stranger-than-fiction story of a sometime beauty queen whose obsessive pursuit of a boyfriend devolves into a chaotic saga of kidnapping, cloning and the gossip maw. Morris will A your Qs after the movie. It's free, but you have to make reservations online at cinefamily.org, and Cinefamily members get first dibs.

The unofficial top-shelf nonfiction preview fest continues tonight, when the UCLA Film & Television Archive hosts a screening of If a Tree Falls, an infuriating and tearjerking examination of the Earth Liberation Front directed by Marshall Curry (Street Fight).
