As Sally Rogers, the perennially unlucky-in-love gag writer, Rose Marie gained TV immortality as part of the legendary ensemble cast of The Dick Van Dyke Show. But that role only scratches the surface of one of the longest careers in show business. A new documentary, Wait for Your Laugh, throws a well-deserved spotlight on the gifted performer who, at 94, has only recently slowed her output. A discussion will follow Saturday evening's screening with the doc's director, Jason Wise, and interviewees Dick Van Dyke (still spry at 92) and TV writer Dan Harmon.
Special guests will attend other screenings as well this weekend:
—Fri., Nov. 17, at the Laemmle Royal, a Q&A after the 7:30 p.m. show with Carl Reiner and director Jason Wise
—Fri., Nov. 17, at the Laemmle Encino, a Q&A after the 7 p.m. show with Peter Marshall (host of Hollywood Squares and narrator of the film) and producer Christina Wise; Marshall and Wise also will introduce the 9:30 p.m. screening.
—Sat., Nov. 18, Laemmle Royal: Q&A after the 2:40 p.m. show with Georgiana Marie Guy (Rose Marie's daughter) and director Jason Wise
—Sat., Nov. 18, Laemmle Encino: Q&A after the 7 p.m. show with Rose Marie, Peter Marshall, Tom Bergeron; they also will introduce the 9:30 p.m. show.
—Sun., Nov. 19, Egyptian Theatre: The filmmakers will appear for a Q&A following the 7:30 p.m. screening.
