The Los Angeles Zoo's 1980s-themed Roaring Nights summer music series, featuring tributes to Prince and David Bowie, offers a totally tubular way to end the summer on Friday, September 16, 2016, 7 to 11 pm. The party for ages 18 and up keeps the hits happenin’ and the tunes tight while transforming the Zoo into one bodacious bash. Legendary '80s DJ Richard Blade spins the best music of the era, and two additional DJs oversee a one-of-a-kind "Silent Disco" with individual musical choices offered via wireless headphones, filled with lots of Bowie, Prince and more, as well as photo ops where guests can picture themselves on classic album covers. Also featured are live music with 80s cover band Betamaxx to take it back to when the running man first started and vintage video games from the '80s returning the fun of the past into the 21st century. Roaring Nights also includes L.A.'s favorite food trucks, full-service bars and a “Neon Paint Party” for guests to express their inner Andy Warhol on a small canvas to take home as a souvenir. The fun continues with pop-up zookeeper talks, animal encounters and visits to animal habitats. Guests whose outfits are 80’s chic and totally rad have the opportunity to win a costume contest, and everyone gets to come face-to-face with a special nighttime incarnation of the life-size, lifelike prehistoric creatures of Dinosaurs: Unextinct at the L.A. Zoo. So break out those neon tights and start practicing the Cabbage Patch because the L.A. Zoo is bringing back a blast from the past.
Among the high-profile food trucks at Roaring Nights in September are Baby's Badass Burgers, Border Grill, Coolhaus, Lobsta Truck, Mandoline Grill, Rice Balls of Fire, The Pudding Truck, Peaches Smokehouse, Paradise Ice Cream , Woody's Grill, Meat the Greek, Chairman Truck, Bakery Truck, Lobos Truck, Grilled Cheese Truck , Austyn's and Ragin Cajun.
The Los Angeles Zoo is located at 5333 Zoo Drive in Los Angeles' Griffith Park at the junction of the Ventura (134) and Golden State (5) freeways.
