As Tori Amos came to wider public attention in the early ’90s, she revealed that she was a madly talented singer-pianist, even if her early records often seemed derivative of Kate Bush’s. But Amos brushed off such comparisons and even confronted the criticism head-on by occasionally putting her own spin on Bush’s “And Dream of Sheep” in concert. “Your mind has been divided from your soul,” Amos declares on “Reindeer King,” on her 15th studio album, Native Invader. The record was originally intended as a look at her family history, but personal and political upheavals caused the songwriter to expand her focus. “Wings” is an electronica-laced commiseration with a wounded lover, while “Broken Arrow” is an elegiac lament about the destruction of the natural world. Also Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3.
