Following Alex Chilton’s death in 2010, Jody Stephens, Mike Mills, Mitch Easter, Chris Stamey, Ken Stringfellow, Jon Auer and others staged a tribute show in honor of the Box Tops and Big Star singer later that year in Chapel Hill, N.C. That performance lead to a tour that included a concert at the Alex Theater in Glendale in 2016, featuring Jeff Tweedy, Pat Sansone, Ira Kaplan, Robyn Hitchcock, Dan Wilson, Benmont Tench, Jessica Pratt, Brett Harris, Django Haskins, Skylar Gudasz, Carl Marsh and Kronos Quartet, who played Big Star’s 1978 album, Third, as well as the band’s other music. The Grammy Museum screens the 90-minute concert film, Thank You, Friends: Big Star’s Third Live … And More, followed by a discussion with Gudasz, Stamey, Wilson, director Benno Nelson and GRAMMY Foundation vice president Scott Goldman.
