Few people have had a career as eclectic as Midge Ure. He got his start in the mid-’70s Scottish pop-rock group Slik, went punk with former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock in Rich Kids, and played with Thin Lizzy. Ure later became a synth-pop pioneer with Visage and the project for which he’s best known, Ultravox. Oh, and he co-wrote the ’80s holiday megahit “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” with Bob Geldof and helped put together Live Aid. If you have the chance to see someone with that kind of résumé in a venue as intimate as the Roxy, you should take it. Ure’s live sets mix solo work with songs his previous bands, including a few Ultravox and Visage classics, which should make this a worthwhile show for any synth nerd.
