March for Marrow Los Angeles 2017 will be held for the eighth consecutive year at the iconic Shoreline Village in Long Beach on Saturday, April 29th. The 5K Run and Patient and Family Walk is an inspiring and festive 5K run and walk and community building fundraiser created by patients with bone marrow failure diseases, their families, friends and supporters to inform the public about these rare diseases, their symptoms and signs and the resources and facilities for diagnosis, treatment and protocols available in the greater Southern California area as well as nationwide.
Our goal is to reach a larger audience and educate more people about bone marrow failure disease and the work of the Aplastic Anemia MDS International Foundation. Because the only known cure for our diseases is a bone marrow transplant, Be the Match, will be on site to recruit candidates for the National Marrow Registry. In addition, March for Marrow includes a Silent Auction, a children’s art project with Art of Elysium, patient stories and lunch provided in a unique setting.
As a running event this year will be our eighth annual 5K run at Shoreline Village. The 5K course is flat, fast and ideal for beating your personal best. We’ll run south along the beautiful Long Beach Shoreline, around the Queen Mary jetty and back.
The top female and male runner will receive a $100 cash prize and a gift certificate for Brooks running shoes. The female and male Masters Runners will also receive gift certificates for Brooks running shoes. In addition there will be awards for the top three running categories for each age group and participant medals for everyone. Everyone gets a Goody Bag.
