L.A. Art Show, one of the largest art fairs in the world, takes you out of the confines of a traditional gallery or museum and into 260,000 square feet of space at the L.A. Convention Center. More than 100 international galleries from more than a dozen countries, including China and Japan, in addition to local institutions LACMA, the Autry and Museum of Latin American Art, curate themed art in all media. After tonight's opening-night party, the rest of the four-day schedule includes staged performances and talks with special guests, including Cheech Marin and Matthew Modine, who discusses an exhibit of photographs taken from his 2005 book, Full Metal Jacket Diary, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Stanley Kubrick film. New this year is Design L.A., which focuses on displays of furniture, decor, architectural objects and jewelry.
