For the past seven years, Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas have been watching shitty movies so you don’t have to. Their popular podcast How Did This Get Made? and consistently sold-out live shows at Largo lambast bad cinema, stinkers like Howard the Duck, Gigli, Sharknado and The Last Airbender. They’ve been joined by such guests as Patton Oswalt, Anna Faris, Adam Scott, Paul F. Tompkins, Nick Kroll, “Weird Al” Yakovic, Danny Trejo, Michael Ian Black, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter and even some of the people involved in the flicks, including Mel Brooks and Vanilla Ice. The podcast has so many loyal fans that Gallery 1988 (owner Jensen Karp also is a past guest) is hosting this tribute art show, featuring more some 50 artists whose mixed-media works are inspired by either HDTGM or the films they’ve reviewed. Reception with Scheer, Raphael and Mantzoukas, Thurs., June 1, 7-9 p.m.
