“Once there was a girl who loved school. Her name was Malala,” begins one of the profiles in the 2016, Kickstarter-funded book, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, which co-authors Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo sign tonight. Accompanied by illustrations by female artists from around the world, the book features one-page, kid-friendly biographies of 100 trailblazing women, from such well-known historical figures as Catherine the Great, Cleopatra, Harriet Tubman, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks and Jane Goodall to lesser-known names as Amna Al Haddad (a weightlifter from Dubai), Matilde Montoya (the first Mexican female doctor) and Sonita Alizadeh (an Afghan rapper). Favilli and Cavallo, who run the children’s media company Timbuktu Labs, will release Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 2 this year.
