Sat., Jan. 6, 1 p.m. 2018
Free; reservations required
Ahead of awards night, the American Cinematheque and Hollywood Foreign Press Association co-host this free discussion with the five directors behind the dramas nominated for this year’s Golden Globe for best foreign-language film. Their stories run the gamut from a transgender singer in Chile to a neo-Nazi murder in Germany to the Khmer Rouge regime. Moderated by former Hollywood Foreign Press Association vice president Mike Goodridge, the panel features Fatih Akin (Germany’s In the Fade), Angelina Jolie (Cambodia’s First They Killed My Father), Sebastian Lelio (Chile’s A Fantastic Woman), Ruben Ostlund (Sweden/Germany/France’s The Square) and Andrey Zvyaginstev (Russia’s Loveless), and is followed by a reception in the courtyard.
