120 Days of Genitorture was a collection of 10 gloriously debauched bangers, and the quality barely dropped by the time they got to the last album, 2009’s Blackheart Revolution. Gen recently said that the shows are less risqué since the audience started filming everything with phones, which is enough to make us hate technology.
Since forming in 1986 as The Festering Genitorturers (true story), Orlando, Florida’s Genitorturers, and particularly captivatingly bad-ass frontmistress Gen, have not just played with BDSM imagery but dived headfirst into it with unparalleled glee. The visuals are as much a part of the show as the tunes, and it works. Industrial music has always had an element of kink (Manson, Rammstein), though rarely this overt. Pushing the boundaries is great, but would fall as limp as an inadequate gimp if the songs were crap. Fortunately, 1993 debut
