Combine gay icon Lady Gaga with classic cult film Grey Gardens, and you get Gaga Gardens. Following 2014’s Madonna Monroe at the Cavern Club, creator-director Joey Keane’s latest musical mashup draws inspiration from Mother Monster and the Maysles brothers’ legendary documentary about an eccentric mother and daughter- relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis – living in squalor on a Long Island estate. Co-directed by Michael Shepperd, cast members, featuring Keane as “Big Edie” and Misi Lopez Lecube as “Little Edie,” in addition to Matthew Herrmann and Johnny Quale, reinterpret famous scenes from the 1975 movie, all while singing live to some of the pop star’s biggest hits, including “Just Dance,” “Bad Romance,” “Born This Way” and “Edge of Glory.” No cats or raccoons were harmed during the making of this production.
