Imagine being an artist and getting a constant IV drip of fame and adulation — and by the end of your life, you’ve fallen out of favor, you’re broke and you die in the home of a maker of horse saddles. In “Vivaldi: The Farewell Concertos,” conductor Fabio Biondi and his Italian period instrument ensemble Europa Galante take you back to those piteous days of yesteryear to experience the final works written by an impoverished Antonio Vivaldi. Some works tonight: Sinfonia in G major for strings (“Il Coro delle muse”), and violin concertos in D major (“Per la Signora Chiara”), in C major and B-flat major. These pieces stand as illuminating insights into the cratering life of the composer who wrote The Four Seasons; they represent the beauty that’s still possible even at the withered end of a great life.
