Since earning a national audience as an American Idol runner-up in 2010, Crystal Bowersox has proven to be one of the few talents from the show’s 15 seasons with the ability to sustain a compelling career. Bowersox’s original music is filled with so much Midwestern-infused storytelling and Americana-inspired artistry that it’s easy to forget that she ever gained exposure on a pop-music TV show. Bowersox entranced her initial following with the ability to soulfully communicate the lyrics of “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Midnight Train to Georgia.” She’s since recorded a handful of acclaimed releases such as the All That for This album and Promises EP, while still stunning in a live setting with her powerful voice. Check out the video of her performing “Arlene” at McCabe’s last year for a sense of the outstanding musicianship in store.
