Since forming in 1990, Crowbar have sounded exactly as you would want a metal band from New Orleans to sound: like they literally crawled out of a Louisiana swamp, battling ’gators on the way, then plugged in, brushed the dripping weeds from their instruments and started cranking out the heavy riffage. Alongside the likes of Eyehategod, Crowbar pioneered sludge metal by grabbing hardcore punk by the Negative Approach shirt and blending it with the doomy power of Sabbath, Kyuss and Cathedral.
