http://www.joesgreatbar.com Since it opened in 2005, Joe's really has been one of the San Fernando Valley's greatest bars, with live entertainment nightly and a large dance floor. The Burbank nightclub is renowned for booking top country-music performers, but rock, swing, rockabilly and blues musicians often appear on Joe's low stage, augmented by regular karaoke nights. The expansive room, decorated by a mural of famous musicians, looks even larger with mirrors lining the walls. For all of its allure as one of the Valley's leading live-music venues, Joe's Great American Bar & Grill is also a hardcore sports bar, with no less than seven television sets, including two with 100-inch screens. In-house diversions for barfly athletes include darts and a pool table. During football season, the grill opens early at 9 a.m., with breakfast available until 11 a.m. The menu features such basic bar-food staples as burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads, and appetizers like buffalo wings and potato skins. The overall mood is unpretentious, and Joe's is just as much a comforting, welcoming neighborhood bar as it is a live-music club and a sports bar. Full bar. Ages 21 & over. Free lot parking and on the street. More >>
http://www.cantersdeli.com Matzo ball soup and kosher favorites are a draw at Canter's famous deli, but it's Kibitz, the bar next door, where people who really want to get pickled go. Added to the establishment back in 1961, the room melds old-fashioned touches with rock n' roll flair. Rock photographs, the work of the owner's son, Marc Canter, line the walls around the small stage, many featuring players who went on to stardom: The Wallflowers, The Freewheelers, The Black Crowes, to name a few. Slash was known to pop in for some noodling. Today, Kibitz features weekly entertainment including live jazz, rock and pop. More >>

http://www.liquidloungelongbeach.com How can you have fun at any venue with a sign that explicitly states, "No Dancing?" With a beer-pong table, karaoke machine and dirt-cheap prices; that's how! The liquid lounge is by no means your average fancy-pants downtown LBC hangout. The folks are local, the staff is welcoming and you're the type who enjoys getting more bang for your buck, this is the place to get it. With good drinks at the prices they offer, it's probably a good thing they've got that "No Dancing" sign up to save you from any potential embarrassment. The bar is small; just your average neighborhood pub, but the crowd is diverse and lively. If you find yourself needing a breather, just step outside. You won't be lonely. There are probably just as many people socializing in the parking lot as there are inside of the bar! More >>
http://www.lacoliseumlive.com Located just south of downtown in Exposition Park alongside the venerable L.A. Memorial Coliseum and adjacent to the USC campus, this aptly named sports arena used to be the home of the home of L.A. Lakers, Kings and Clippers, and both the USC Trojans and (briefly) UCLA Bruins basketball teams. Unfortunately for the aging venue, the telling phrase is "used to be." Most of its jock tenants have fled, but the L.A. Sports Arena continues to be the site of occasional concerts from folks like Bruce Springsteen, who's performed there many times over the years. During the 2011-2012, the UCLA men's basketball team played some of its home games there while its own on-campus arena, Pauley Pavilion, was renovated. More >>
http://www.eatatmahe.com Mahé offers a delicious meeting of sushi and meat as God and Stewart Anderson, in their mercy, intended. Besides the raw stuff, the house special is the filet mignon stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped in bacon. Kill you? Sure. But it tastes damn good. More >>

http://www.martiniblues.com Everything looks great coming out of the kitchen of this bona-fide supper club, and we can personally vouch for the Martini Blues Favorite?a rotelli pasta with chicken or shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms and bell peppers in a spicy chipotle Alfredo sauce. Like all dinners, it comes with soup or salad; steamed vegetables; and a choice of garlic mashed potatoes, angel hair pasta or rice pilaf. More >>
