Take note, the more interesting Cozy customers cluster at this Culver City dive in daylight. The bar opens at 6 a.m. and even this early, there's a crowd. Cozy is its crowd; it has a Cheers-like atmosphere and everyone really does seem to know everyone's name. 8x10s above the otherwise nondescript wood-paneled bar display the most familiar cast of characters (many with some kind of fish they caught), while on the opposite wall, four prominently placed caricature drawings - the kind artists do on the street - detail one customer's trip to Cabo. There are some nonhuman amusements, too: the shuffleboard game which takes up the center of the room, the pool tables (which seem to get some shark action with many players bringing their own cues), old time rock & roll and blues on the jukester, and Cozy's sneaky rear exit to its parking lot. http://www.craftrestaurant.com When chef Tom Colicchio's original Craft opened in Manhattan's Gramercy Park neighborhood, it was a fantasy restaurant, a place where customers were invited to construct their meals from scratch, or rather from gleaming copper pots of prepared meats, sauces, starches and vegetables all ordered à la carte. At Craft in Century City, in a handsome neo-Neutra space a few yards from both ICM and CAA, it is a veritable festival of à la carte à gogo: high-quality slabs of wagyu beef, local, seasonal sea bass wrapped in, roast Heritage pork laminated with sorrel leaves and braised Alaskan sablefish that you are invited to pair with sautéed long beans or baby turnips, creamed Tuscan kale or smoky, beautifully roasted wild mushrooms, braised peewee potatoes or squash risotto. By the time you have crowded your table with all the side dishes you want to taste and ordered a modest wine, you have probably spent $100 a person - and bumped into the likes of James Caan, S. Irene Virbila, Suzanne Tracht and Mayor Villaraigosa, to name just a few of the people crowded into the restaurant on a Thursday night. Read more about this Los Angeles bar or club >>

http://www.crazygirlsla.com This Hollywood bikini bar features reasonably priced drinks and, we're told, reasonably attractive women. Live rock bands take the stage on Wednesdays; there's also a private room for lap dances if you're into that sort of thing. But we wouldn't know anything about that. http://www.thecrockerclub.com Partying amidst -- and inside of -- giant steel vaults, safety-deposit boxes and barred cubicles at this downtown bar and club is pure retro novelty, but it's not kitschy, it's classy. Marble details, fancy floral arrangements, plush seating and a private club-within-the-club called Ghost Bar, make it a pretty snazzy spot. The crowd used to be exclusively upscale, too. But when Crocker's partners split in early 2010, the place opened up to all of downtown's diverse dwellers, from the art-tart set living in nearby lofts to the hard-working fashionista crews who create there by day. The centerpiece gathering of the moment is definitely Robert Vargas' Red Zebra party, which happens the first Thursday of the month and joins LA's most unique artists, designers and performers for an eve of creative celebration and -befitting for the luxe atmosphere- a little shameless excess too. This quaint little bar near the Los Alamitos Marina is known as a hangout for cougars. Doubtless, the occasional distinguished woman may frequent Crow's on the prowl for fresh young meat, but the crowd is actually diverse. The bar is tiny and dimly lit with a an ambience that can best be described as dive chic. Though the room is small strategically placed mirrors lend the the illusion of larger size, and tiny tables decked with flickering candles line the walls. Those who sit at the bar have a front row view of the Crow's booze offering, which includes hard alcohol and several bottled brews. Labels include MGD, Coors Light, Miller Light, Blue Moon and Newcastle. The happy hour is generous, spanning Monday through Thursday 12 noon to 2 a.m. and includes 2.50 domestic brews and $3.50 well drinks. Read more about this Los Angeles bar or club >>

Doubtless, the occasional distinguished woman may frequent Crow's on the prowl for fresh young meat, but the crowd is actually diverse. The bar is tiny, and dimly lit with a decor and ambience that can best be described as "dive chic." Older gentlemen serve suds clad in vests and dress shirts. And though small, the room is quite handsome. Strategically placed mirrors lend the interior the illusion of larger size, and small tables decked with flickering candles line the walls. http://www.crownbarla.com Crown Bar used to be Tempest on Santa Monica Boulevard (fairly easy to get into except for Wednesdays, when The Alliance mans the door). On a recent visit, the floor was on fire thanks to DJ Michelle Pesce and a jovial jock-meets-Hollywood-hottie crowd, all of whom were sloshed by midnight. Though it's better known for the shutterbug hustle it attracts outside on hump night, we're happy to report weekends here are fun and 'tude/TMZ free. Even the door guy and bartenders were nice. The real shocker at this one? The place is completely unrecognizable from its former incarnation, with no traces whatsoever of old fave Tempest - ex-home of Club Underground (now at The Echo) and the short-lived version of Rodney's English Disco (thrown by The remodel (by the same bloke who redid The Abbey for SBE) manages to be tasteful without being stuffy: chandeliers, dark-wood accents, relaxing couches (yes, they were for bottle service, but that can't be avoided on a Friday night).
