Porn Maven Nina Hartley Needs Your Help

Nina Hartley

Nina Hartley

While a certain online nemesis who's been MIA in the woods hunting Hansel is busy making fun of those she should probably befriend, I'm working to spread the word about a cause near and dear to my heart -- and your genitals.

Call her what you will -- MILF extraordinaire, prolific sex educator, adult industry legend. Nina Hartley has been in the business of pleasure since before many of you were born. 1984, the same year the Apple Macintosh was introduced and poised to take over our lives decades later, marked the release of "Educating Nina," Hartley's first skin flick.

From there she launched onto the scene not only as a genuine voyeur and lover of all things sex, but soon became a purveyor of sex positivity. Education and information became as essential to her work as her incredibly real orgasms and it wasn't long before Hartley became involved in her work and its evolution hands on. Pun intended.

Hartley considers her fans her friends, and has a special connection with many of those who've, throughout the years, looked to her with trust for advice and guidance. Now her fans and followers have a chance to thank her.

Some of you may know that Hartley was diagnosed with noncancerous fibroid tumors in her uterus nearly 20 years ago. Though a bit unsightly, they caused no serious health risks until recently, and the time has come for these masses to be removed. Surgery is scheduled later this month, and though the operation costs are covered, expenses imminent during recovery are not.

Hartley and her supporters have created Give It Away for Nina, a fundraiser to help Hartley through this stressful time.

The fundraiser ends Jan. 31, and the organizers appreciate anything Hartley's fans can offer.

Let's see. If every one of Hartley's Twitter followers donated just $2, she'd have $44,372. That's kind of amazing. (Quick, someone check my math. I do words and men, not numbers...)

Spread the word and see how you can help. It's the least we can do for an industry legend who's helped change the way women perform, produce and watch pornography.
