Tyson on Tyson
Mike Tyson is taking yet another shot at redemption outside the ring. After appearing in hit movie The Hangover (2009) and 2008 documentary Tyson, the former undisputed heavyweight champion of world now is aligning himself with Spike Lee, who's directing him in the touring one-man show Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. Just as he did in James Toback's doc, Tyson chronicles his tumultuous life and showbiz boxing career, from his Brooklyn childhood to his championship titles to his family, including the death of his youngest daughter, Exodus, in 2009. This is Tyson's version of the truth, which includes his three-year incarceration for rape, and his tabloid-fodder marriage to first wife Robin Givens. (Tyson even shares an anecdote about Givens' ex-boyfriend, a then-unknown Brad Pitt.) Forget about Lance Armstrong. Tyson's confessional is live and onstage. And it's further proof that you can't keep the biggest whackadoo in sports history down. If you tried, he just might bite your ear off.
