The Price Is Righteous
Apart from his career as film's Merchant of Menace, Vincent Price was a gourmet and art collector who donated possessions from his personal collection to East Los Angeles College in 1951, later founding the Vincent and Mary Grant Price Gallery in 1957. Now known as the Vincent Price Museum, and housing more than 9,000 works of art, it reopened last month after a yearlong renovation. One of the few major art collections housed at a community college, the museum celebrates its new digs, as well as the centennial of Price's birth, with a screening of the 1953 classic House of Wax in 3-D. Daughter Victoria Price hosts a prescreening slide show talk and reception, which will include selections from her parents' 1965 cookbook, A Treasury of Great Recipes. Nothing scary about noodles casserole or steak Diane.
