The Mission Is Sake
In recent years, astrophysicists have discovered that distant galactic clusters were headed in a particular direction of the universe in an action known as dark flow — a kind of supermassive vacuum cleaner for the cosmos. Now you can enjoy your own kind of dark hoovering flow with Mission Sake, an event that collects an interstellar variety of sake from around the world (courtesy Mutual Trading Company) to be paired with various foods and hors d’oeuvres from top-notch, local restaurants. It’s all for the astronomical good done, thanks to 34-year-strong Little Tokyo Service Center, whose programs benefit the poor of the greater Metro L.A. area. Jeremy Sole, the weird beard behind KCRW’s Afrobeat and funk palpitations, will DJ, and a silent auction and raffle will propel you to the heights of charity and goodwill — all unfolding in the shadow of Space Shuttle Endeavour.
