There once was a time when monster movies were the province of Saturday-afternoon horror television hosts, or a cheap popcorn double feature and that was about as far as they ever went. Except for a few maniacs, like Johnny Legend or Michael Weldon, there was no celebration of these films that society regularly spat on as hopeless trash. Fast-forward a few decades, and there's Creation Entertainment's 24th Weekend of Horrors. For three days, you'll meet horror-genre celebrities who, to a man, could be buried beneath Clark Gable's proposed epitaph: "He was lucky and he knew it." Bruce "Briscoe County Jr." Campbell and Clive "Hellraiser" Barker appear alongside two stars from True Blood: Jim Parrack, who plays lovesick human Hoyt; and Kristen Bauer, the sick-and-tired vampire Pam. There's also an appearance by actor Paul Ehlers the titular madman from the 1982 slasher film Madman the usual Sid Haig/Ken Foree/John Saxon trifecta, quality scum from the Grindhouse Film Festival and Re-Animator star Jeffrey Combs' star turn as Edgar Allan Poe in his one-man show, Nevermore.
