Artist Anthony Ausgang shuffles off the mortal coital of "lowbrow" as he reads selections from his new graphic novella, The Sleep of Puss Titter: A Lysenkoist Life in the Random-Word Generation ($13.95, KeroseneBomb Publishing). Composed entirely of snippets from the text at the end of email spam — designed to beat your junk mail filters — it represents five years of slogging through daily jenkem come-ons and dick cream spam. The story: Puss Titter and Mr. Breakwind try to revive their flagging sex lives after years of marriage, consciously engaging with spammers in a desperate attempt to save their relationship. In assembling the collected nonsense in a manner that falls somewhere between TMI and ESP, Ausgang fulfills the central aim of the great artist: He finds the profound in the unassuming and unveils the beauty in the constitutionally stupid.
