Sandra Tsing Loh
Author and performance artist Sandra Tsing Loh exudes a homegrown anxiety. The Malibu-raised Caltech graduate has the ability to make any situation sound both overwhelming and hilarious, which comes in handy as she documents her life experiences in The Atlantic. On KPCC, her three-minute serial, "The Loh Life," brazenly captures her midlife mania in all its harried glory, thoroughly examining the trials of motherhood and challenges of divorce. As time cannot be stopped, it was inevitable that Tsing Loh would move on to every man's least comfortable subject: menopause. In her latest book, The Madwoman in the Volvo, the 52-year-old journalist takes on the end of her monthly cycle, a topic she'll also discuss in a free conversation with KPCC reporter Shirley Jahad. Expect honesty, good humor, awkwardness and probably a few knowing nods. Crawford Family Forum, 474 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena; Wed., May 21, 7 p.m.; free. (626) 583-5100, scpr.org/forum.
