Restoration Software

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the UCLA Film & Television Archive present a 10-week program delving behind the scenes into contemporary restoration techniques and concerns, with introductions by leading film preservationists. Tonight: Richard Wallace's The Right to Love (1930), with Ruth Chatterton playing two roles — both mother and daughter — in a story about a young woman (Chatterton) whose allegiance is divided between her romantic mother (also Chatterton) and her über-religious father. Bob O'Neill, vice president of Image Assets & Preservation, and Tom Regal, director of Audio Restoration and Preservation, Universal Studios, will introduce the screening. Pictured: Ruth Chatterton.
