Hollywood temptress Pleasant Gehman is one of Tinsel Town's hardest charging and stalwartly swarming personalities, a force of nature whose lurid, multifaceted pedigree of non-stop music-making, wild wordsmithing, hyper-glamourized belly dancing and perpetual hell-raising long since assured her ascension to status as this filthy town's "Scene Queen." An integral part of this riotous reputation came from her invaluable role as concierge to Disgraceland, a large, badly battered rental home on Hollywood's Cassil Place. That storied, stinky passion pit was perhaps the widest-open afterhours residential hole in the wall in all of Hollywood (and, believe it, there was plenty of competition for that title). Notes from A Punk Rock Crash Pad is Gehman and fellow writer Iris Berry's staggering evening of truth-is-stranger-than-publicity vignettes, and this event features readings and contributions from kaleidoscopic kornucopia of drastically offbeat, oddball participants. With appearances by veteran skin-pounder and Loyal Order of the Water Buffalo Grand Poobah Chris Bailey, the brilliant musical provocateur Joey Altruda and get around hip chick Cherry Vanilla (who has enjoyed alliances with with everyone from Andy Warhol to Chet Baker), not to mention a live performance by the legendary underworld duo of Zander Schloss & Sean Wheeler and a Punk Rock Karaoke climax, this is assured to be an ultra-weird socio-cultural meltdown so intense it might prove downright hazardous.
