Piano Man

When it comes rocking a piano's 88 keys, few have the feel, facility and flair of veteran British player Ian McLagan. A natural-born rock & roll powerhouse, McLagan distinguished himself with the influential 1960s-era groups Small Faces and Faces, then went on to a fruitful stint with them there Rolling Stones -- not to mention touring and recording with just about anyone who was anyone on the international rock scene. Appearing here in support of his fine, fractious Live at the Lucky Lounge CD, McLagan will discuss his supercharged career and perform some of that great music: The man has an irresistible, hard-hitting style that's tasteful and tough all at once. Perhaps most admirable of all these knockout achievements is the fact that McLagan hasn't settled into an aloof dotage at some Malibu manse but instead chooses to live, work and play in the neon-lit honky-tonks and rock boites of Austin, Texas, churning out albums and regularly performing with his Bump Band.
