MY DINNER WITH ARROGANCE
During most of postwar American life, food and the eating thereof existed as fairly beige aspects. The most exotic thing a family might cook would be chop suey, followed by Baked Alaska and a pitcher of martinis. About 10 years ago, a golden triangle of Internet ascendance, foodie culture and the rise of cable channels ever hungry for content unleashed a round of celebrity chefs on the cultural landscape. Tonight, American chef Anthony Bourdain presents "No Reservations," which accompanies the publication of his new book, Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook. It's an evening of stories about eating the exotic and repulsive foods the world has to offer, in the pursuit of life experience that remains Bourdain's hallmark. There's also a purportedly raucous Q&A afterward, so take part in the existential dick-measuring contest accordingly.
