Mommie Dearest

They fuck you up, your mom and dad -- but really, wasn't it mostly Mom? Loving you, coddling you, telling you how special you were? After all that smothering, no wonder you rebelled! If you've got even the faintest touch of internal damage, come see Margaret Cho perform her Mother cycle of comedy about, you guessed it, her mother. Cho has been on the road since September, laboring away on this understandably in-progress work -- what relationship with one's parents isn't constantly in progress? Between reminiscences and/or grousing about her mom, she'll dish out the usual sad-but-funny-but-true litany of observations on sexuality, drugs, guns and other caustic baubles gushing forth from her prodigious comic psyche. Even if you don't know who this shadow is, looming so large, Cho will tell you all about the woman who left her ill-equipped to deal with the brutalities of the West -- even if she taught her how to be pretty handy with a knife and a fish.
