You may know her from the cast of The Sarah Silverman Show , but not for long, as that show was recently canceled. Ms. Notaro is joined by the cast of Party Down , including Megan Mullally, Adam Scott, Martin Starr and Ryan Hansen, for Tig Has Friends .

L.A. WEEKLY: Sorry to hear about The Sarah Silverman Show cancellation -- how did you take the news?

Well, this is the first I'm hearing of it. I'm a little shocked, to be honest. Did Sarah call you? We actually all thought it was going to be canceled last season. This season was a nice bonus, thanks to LOGO kicking down the extra cash to make up for budget cuts. I know that. Sarah and I are both really excited about moving on to our other projects. I'm sure you read in The Hollywood Reporter that she and I are starting a high-end hog ranch right at the corner of Melrose and Larchmont. She's executive-producing it. I encourage everyone to swing by once we have it up and running.

When was the last time you had a day job?

I've been full-time comedy for maybe seven years. But I still work at a little bakery in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and haven't missed a day since it opened in 1946.

What do you define as success for a comic?

I think when a comic has the ability to do exactly their style, have it translate across the board and make a living is pretty great. I'm a bit of a minimalist, so I don't fantasize about "things" I want. I'm more on the end of being excited to eventually only own a toothbrush one day and a change of clothes. I think it's gonna happen.

Does your mother approve of your career choice?

Well, she was diagnosed with dementia and thinks I'm an astronaut. So, yeah, she's pretty proud of my accomplishments, to say the very least.

Who do people say you look like?

Oddly, a mix between my mother and my father. My mother is gorgeous. My father is not. So, this makes me drop-dead cute, with a hint of Tom Cruise.

What about you would most surprise your fans?

That I'm female.

If you could call a moratorium on one over-used stand-up premise, what would it be?

I get so bored when I hear comedians bash Dane Cook, Creed and Nickelback.

If your comedy were a musical genre, what would it be?

New country.

What do you actually do all day?

There's a nice gaggle of 10 to 15 of us who regularly go to movies together, throw pool parties, have dinners, etc. Whenever someone's not shooting or touring, we all get together, and it's a wonderfully fun day in the land of misfit toys. Other than that, nothing. I just basically sit around and wait for the phone to ring.
