Kathy Griffin's Favorite Author
It's not difficult to follow other pursuits in your life when the only constants are your alcoholic dog and Anderson Cooper. In the spirit of multisubjectivalism, CNN producer Jack Gray presents his essay collection, Pigeon in a Crosswalk: Tales of Anxiety and Accidental Glamour (Simon & Schuster). He'll be discussing the various vagaries of life he presents in his book with his friend, comedian Kathy Griffin, who is as caustic as Gray is convivial. Equal parts memoir and anthology, the book details how Gray came out to his family, the mercurial nature of divas and anchormen (both of whom are occasionally mutually inclusive) and understanding how life's glamour is as much about cynicism and brutality as it is sunshine and back-patting. Book Soup, 8818 Sunset Blvd., W. Hlywd.; Tues., March 5, 7 p.m.; free, book is $22. (310) 659-3110, www.booksoup.com.
