It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Torture
Your most awful holiday memory may evoke more cringes than laughs. Thanks to Shitty Holidays, you can bust a gut at someone else's pumpkin pie à la misery. The show's format is this: An audience member shares their most horrific story, and improv pros Eric Appel, Sean Clements (pictured) and Ben Rodgers -- part of most excellent weekly show Shitty Jobs -- spin it into a full onslaught of "creepy uncles, depressed siblings, and jerk-ass parents." Clements describes one highlight from a past Shitty Holidays as "the time a woman from Ireland described having all of her possessions stolen on the same day that she found a suicide note from her boyfriend. Christmas!" His own worst holiday memory? "The time I spent a holiday with my friends and family instead of attending a reasonably priced improv comedy show." Uptight Citizen's Brigade Theater, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hlywd.; Fri., Nov. 23, 8 p.m.; $10. (323) 908-8702.
