Green Eggs & Alhambra
Many grumbled when Jim Henson's beloved Muppets were recently made over, Disney having chucked a Frank Oz script for ... Jason Segel's. A character created by another beloved children's icon, Dr. Seuss, was just given the big-screen treatment to boffo box office but mixed reviews. Many cried foul as The Lorax, Seuss' cantankerous, orange-hued environmentalist, was whored out for 70-plus corporate tie-ins (Seventh Generation, maybe; Mazda SUVs, uh?). Thank your Star-bellied Sneetches that you can appreciate the work of Dr. Seuss without shelling out $15 for a movie ticket: Look at This, Look at That: A Tribute to Dr. Seuss celebrates the work of Seuss by way of 40 artists paying homage to the visionary through their own interpretations of his work, themes, and characters. Bonus photo op with a 10x11 foot painted mural, of a scene from Oh, The Places You'll Go!, which reminds small kids and big kids alike, that you have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go! Nucleus Gallery, 210 E.
