Comic book conventions tend to last for several days, but this one — the L.A. Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention — lasts just one, leaving you more time to read comic books! The big appearances here are actors Danai "Michonne" Gurira and Laurie "Andrea" Holden from the monster AMC zombie series The Walking Dead. If that's a bit packed, take a break and visit peerless stuntman Ray Park (Darth Maul from The Phantom Menace and Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe), Edward Furlong (John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and a comprehensive clutch of comic book dealers whose great dedication and intensity made this subculture possible in the first place. It probably will be like these things used to be: a bunch of nerds wandering around, looking at monster movies and comic books. You have to admire the purity of a thing like that. Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall, 700 W. 32nd St.; Sun., Feb. 24, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; $10 & $12. (818) 954-8432, comicbookscifi.com.
