One of Los Angeles' many charms is that the weather accommodates outdoor markets all year round. The Rose Bowl, Pasadena City College and Long Beach City College's Veterans Stadium each put aside one Sunday a month to cover their parking lots in used clothes, yacht-rock LPs and unsettling military paraphernalia. But those sprawling dioramas of forgotten fashions can be intimidating and too comprehensive for those looking for that needle in a haystack - which is why specific collectors occasionally branch off to start their own party. Downtown Modernism is the place for people looking to outfit their home with kitschy lampshades and sleek Fiberglas furniture, people with Fiestaware collections, and people who occasionally role-play as Charles and Ray Eames. There will be something for every living room looking for that spark of midcentury charm, with 100 vendors slinging furniture in the hot sun. Just don't forget to bring cash. Modernica, 2901 Saco St., dwntwn. Sun., March 30, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; $5. (323) 826-1600, downtownmodernism.com.
