Best Worst Movie
Watching movies doesn't have to be a communal experience. Hell, sometimes a really great movie is best watched on your own, in case it's awesomely downbeat and puts you in a self-reflective funk, or just makes you ugly-cry like a toddler for hours. Bad movies, though? Bad movies are totally best when watched with a group, preferably some of whom are skilled at the funny, and such are the crew behind NerdMelt's Two Thumbs Way Down. Creator Eli Olsberg and regulars Pete Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani and Rory Scovel come armed to each evening's proceedings with a trailer for some godawful schlock, after which the audience votes on which title seems like the jankiest, most snark-worthy piece of all; that film then is screened in its entirety with the guys pitching in their smart-ass commentary along the way. With trick-or-treat time approaching, it's horror night this month, so come prepared for some supremely bad horror in the "Special Halloween Edition"! NerdMelt at Meltdown Comics, 7522 Sunset Blvd.; Thurs., Oct. 13, 8 p.m.; $8 in advance, $10 at the door. (323) 851-7223; nerdmeltla.com.
