WYNTON MARSALIS & THE LINCOLN CENTER JAZZ ORCHESTRA It's a shame that, in all the visceral debate in jazz circles over Wynton's outspoken retro tendencies, people tend to forget that he is one hell of a horn player, a good composer and runs a really fine orchestra. Yeah, Lincoln Center costs more than Hearst Castle. And yeah, Wynton's a neo moldy fig. But Louis Armstrong hated bop. And Max Roach bopped Ornette in the mouth. Jazzers are nuts. So forget all their opinions and just listen to the music. It will be real good, and it might get real gone. UCLA, Royce Hall; Sat., Jan. 22, 8 p.m. (310) 825-2101. Also at THOUSAND OAKS CIVIC ARTS PLAZA, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.; Sun., Jan. 23, 2:30 p.m. (805) 449-2787.
