A Wayne in a Manger
We may no longer have Andy Williams and Bing Crosby, but fortunately, we have Wayne Federman and his annual (well, four years anyway) A Very Federman Christmas 4. This year's lineup includes Paul Williams, John C. Reilly, Dana Gould and Illeana Douglas, plus surprise guests. "From the piano I host an evening of music, stand-up and original sketches," Federman tells us. "I first assemble a great band, headed by Austin-based guitarist and vocalist Phil Hurley. Each guest reminisces with me about any aspect of Christmas and then will sing or sing-along. There's usually one set of stand-up. Plus I'll write some short, holiday-based sketches for my guests to perform. I am beyond thrilled to have Paul Williams on the show this year. I've never had an Oscar winner as a guest before. It's his Largo debut and he is currently in a great documentary called Paul Williams Is Still Alive. I can't wait to talk to him about 'Rainbow Connection,' 'We've Only Just Begun' and 'I Won't Last a Day Without You.' He's also the current president of ASCAP, so if we play any part of those songs, he'll definitely shake down Largo for a royalty payment." And how will Federman spend Christmas this year? "I'll be flying the red-eye into Kennedy airport on Christmas Eve hoping we don't collide with a sleigh and spending a couple days in a place I've never been before: Pawling, N.Y." Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd.; Mon., Dec. 17, 8 p.m.; $20. (310) 855-0350, largo-la.com.
