20th Anniversary of the Death of Kurt Cobain
Time has a rather capricious capacity to seem as though it has sped violently by - and yet, upon realizing that today is the eve of the 20th anniversary of the death of Kurt Cobain, it stands shockingly stock-still. In order to keep everything in some kind of perspective, author and Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson hosts a memorial to mark his friend's passing. It'll be an evening of words, music, tea and commiseration. Two years ago, Erlandson saw the publication of Letters to Kurt, a heartfelt compendium of meditations on loss and friendship. In a very real way, even after death we still remain friends with those who have passed - but more importantly, this is a time to get together to tell the friends who are still here how much you love them and how much they mean to you. You don't want to regret it for two decades, do you? Stories Books & Cafe, 1716 Sunset Blvd., Echo Park; Fri., April 4, 7:30 p.m.; free. (213) 413-3733, storiesla.com.
