American Rebel on Melrose
Unlike some Melrose vintage shops (we're looking at you, Wasteland), no one walks out of American Rebel dizzy from sensory overload — the store has an expertly edited selection of vintage dresses, just-threadbare-enough T-shirts and broken-in cowboy boots. Since taking over Melrose staple SLOW last fall, the owners have channeled Easy Rider–era Peter Fonda in their offerings (think: '70s Laura Ashley prairie dresses, fringed leather jackets, vintage roller skates). Inventory is cycled out every two weeks (except for items that still have SLOW tags), when racks are replenished with a fresh stock of Dior cocktail dresses and floral rompers.
