Map & Details>>

Angels Knoll Park is a small, tranquil slope crammed in among some of downtown's busiest spots: It's across from Grand Central Market, below California Plaza and adjacent to Angels Flight and the Metro Rail station at Pershing Square. The knoll is best known as the favorite spot of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in (500) Days of Summer. In sharp contrast to the highly manicured lawns at the new, much publicized Grand Park, Angels Knoll is a true urban garden shaded by massive trees, and it offers a much better view of downtown. The quiet spot is perfect for getting work done, as it comes equipped with a free Wi-Fi network. "The original intent was to attract lunch-hour people," explains architect Calvin Abe, whose firm designed the park for the now-defunct Community Redevelopment Agency. During daylight hours, adults and teens chat on benches, take pictures, sleep in the grass and exercise on the steps between the knoll and the street below. 356 S.
