Gorgeousness just drips from every pore of this place. Founded by PC Valmorbida, Prism is the kind of contemporary art gallery where the artists showing there are so high-profile that they count as celebrities when they go other places. Heavy hitters include street artists gone A-list like Barry McGee, publishing phenoms like Eric Kroll, up-and-coming Australian artist Jonathan Zawada, even first-generation hipsters like George Condo and the late Mike Kelley. Then there's the crowd: wall-to-wall beautiful people, from the alarmingly culture-savvy Olsen Twins to various Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peaches Geldof, Kelly Slater and Carine Roitfeld, plus loads of fashion models and scruffy-chic DJs — less young Hollywood and more fashion and music people who take art seriously but don't like stuffy places. The light-flooded two-story space, with its multilevel roof patio, dramatic staircase and soaring architectural profile by PATTERNS Architects, is the perfect housing for what may be the only gallery in the Venn diagram sweet spot among Juxtapoz, Vogue and Artforum. In a word: cachet. 8746 W. Sunset Blvd., W. Hlywd. (310) 289-1301. prismla.com.
