The interweb may be doing its best to kill the fine art of snail mail, but Jonathan Wright & Co., a quirky little shop in Fairfax, is fighting back. In back, two original, 19th-century letterpresses are rolling away, and seekers of style and whimsy can see Mr. Wright himself to discuss embossing, engraving and stamping their custom invitations, announcements, cards and place cards. The reassuringly thick paper printed with Victorian-style illustrations even smells classy, and is usually (thankfully) left blank for your own message — which the shop's in-house calligrapher will write for you, if you desire. This go-to shop also sells small gifts that make ideal pairings: fragrant soaps, spiffy journals, candles, letter openers, rubber stamps, Italian wrapping paper, witty books, chic party supplies, seasonal knickknacks and legions of envelopes and notepaper. 7404 Beverly Blvd., Fairfax District.
