Santa Monica's Little Britain
Craving good strong tea, McVitie's digestive biscuits, Irish cheddar cheese or other delights from the U.K.? Make your way to Little Britain, aka Santa Monica, to the nexus of suppliers around the intersection of Second Street and Santa Monica Boulevard. Start with an authentic pub lunch at Ye Olde King's Head, a British pub filled with expats watching live sports from the U.K. or arguing the relative merits of various royals. Step next door to its shop, filled with imported teapots and mugs plus tea to fill them, and assorted biscuits and other sweets. (It also carries items from Australia, South Africa, Canada and Ireland — covering the Commonwealth bases.) Cross Second Street to the Tudor House for a tasty and authentic high tea, including homemade scones and pasties.
