The only thing you can expect when heading out to Check Yo' Ponytail 2 is that you'll never be at the same party twice. The latest incarnation of IHEARTCOMIX founder Franki Chan's party, Check Yo' Ponytail brings together the local labelhead/tastemaker with promoters Danny Johnson (Media Contender) and Zane Landreth (Killing Spree). Its monthly parties at the Echoplex take on different themes, from metal to witch house, but remain consistent in quality. Last May, Andrew W.K. celebrated his birthday by headlining a hard-rockin' party here. Later in the summer, electronic artists Pictureplane, oOoOO and Javelin stopped by for a you-should-have-been-there event.
