It?s precedent-setting: This may be the first mixed-use development of housing and a classic repertory theater company under one historical roof. The north side of the former Stuart Pharmaceutical building ? a landmark midcentury complex listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designed by famed architect Edward Durrell Stone ? currently houses 188 apartment units as well as the original, restored oval swimming pool, cabanas, a gym, and modern clubhouse with baby grand piano and wet bar. By fall 2011, the south side becomes a 300-seat theater with educational facilities.
