Polly's Coffee is a slice of Northern Europe plunked down into the set of Prairie Home Companion, by way of Vermont. This place doesn't fool around when it comes to a cuppa java. The woody, homespun interior features an imported German Probat LNIS coffee roaster, which can roast up to 30 pounds of beans at a time. Polly's also has comfortable make-yourself-at-home seating — including a semi-enclosed outdoor area — and the staff are friendly and accommodating. If you're in Long Beach and want a vibe that's sorta Larchmont-meets-Montana Avenue-meets-Sherman-Oaks, look for Polly's at the west end of 2nd Street's busy, fun retail/food strip.
