One of the best things about not having much cash — really, when you think about it, the only thing — is the excellent excuse to spend it at the large-scale second-hand fantasyland Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Lincoln Heights. The thrill of furnishing an Eastside apartment with less than $200 is comparable only to the thrill of the great bargains you will discover here: a constantly rotating inventory of vintage and other lightly used furnishings, which on most days will include fabulous deals on everything from TVs and dishware to pianos and exercise equipment. The enormous slelection of clothes, shoes and accessories for men, women and kids is packed with great finds and the staff is friendly and helpful (and sometimes willing to make deals on big-ticket items). Come prepared with a truck and ample time to spend exploring its many rooms, and be sure to check out the book section at the front. Plus, it’s all for a good cause. 210 N.
